2020 Season Cancelled

2020 Season Cancelled

The decision has been made by the Lakeland Area Baseball Association (LABA) board of directors to cancel the 2020 summer baseball season. While we fully understand there is a lot of different opinions out there locally as what we are able to do, the one factor that hasn't changed is the directive from the health officials which says we can't tread lightly with going back to normal activity. We simply in good conscience cannot push this when the end-all has to be a decision made with the best interest of the kids in mind.

With that we've also decided to move forward with some possible camps and/or contact days for players in July and/or August. All those who paid registration fees may request a refund, or they may choose to roll them over into next year and receive a 50% discount on 2021 fees. The remaining balance will be used as a donation to our non-profit group. We thank you for your patience on this as we work as fast as we can to get refunds returned in a timely manner.

A few things to keep in mind before deciding to request a refund.

Only those members who've paid dues for the 2020 year will be allowed to take part in LABA sponsored events in July/August due to insurance purposes. If you have requested a refund, you may still have your son or daughter take part in the events, however we have to check on a waiver form prior to taking part in any events at the Highway 70 West ball park. We will keep you up to date. There may will be travel tournament opportunities for 15U and 13U players, as well as possibly 17U players if a team is comprised and coaching is available. If you are a parent who's interested in taking a team to a road tournament, or participating in the Small Town Baseball World Series in July, hosted by us, please let me know ASAP.

Again, we thank you for your patience on this as it remains a very fluid situation. We hope to bring some sort of baseball activity to the kids at some point this summer, but right now just cannot put that above what health officials are telling us.Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
